AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER: SLIM AARONS

I recently came across some gorgeous photos and immediately did some research to find out more about this gentleman. Apparently I'm way late in the game on finding out about him (but better late than never, right?), his name is Slim Aarons. He was a well noted American photographer throughout the 50's, 60's and 70's. He was known for "photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places" and that is exactly what is depicted in his photos.

 

He has several books available HERE. These are all now on my "must haves" list.

IV'E GOTTEN A FEW OF THOSE

Who hasn't had an ex..or a crush that has made them a mixtape?! I have had more than a few mix tapes, and i kept them all...ALL of them. I thought I was weird till I found this book Cassette From My Ex Not only is this book awesome, but this website is equally as awesome. People have sent in actual tracks from their mix tapes and the stories behind them. You can listen to the songs, and read the info of their "love" stories. So if you're looking for something different to read I recommend this book it's a fun simple read.

NERD ALERT

Graphic novels aren't as nerdy as people think they are! it's hip and cool damn it! I like to look at cool pictures whilst I'm reading... sue me. THIS GUY Adrian Tomine rules! Adrian's work is simple, and visually consistent, which when you see his images you can connect the two. My personal favorite book by him is "shortcomings" about the shortcomings we face as young adults. If this guy doesn't suit your fancy visually, there are SO MANY others artist to check out! Graphic novels are fun! NERDS NO MORE!!!!
